This site belongs to Shane T. Butcher, a writer based in Florida, USA. It was built and is maintained by ST3 Studios LLC. This page explains what information the site handles and why. Questions go to hello@shanetbutcher.com.

The short version

  • No advertising, no analytics and no tracking scripts.
  • Fonts and images are served from this site, not from Google or social networks.
  • The web host keeps short-lived technical logs to keep the site secure.
  • If you email me, I use your message only to reply.
  • The newsletter runs on Substack, under Substack's own privacy policy.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted by Mittwald CM Service GmbH & Co. KG in Germany. Like any web server, it records basic technical information when a page is requested: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, your browser and operating system, and the referring page. These logs are used only to run the site and protect it from abuse, and they are deleted after a short period.

Cookies

The site uses only cookies it needs to work, such as a short-lived session cookie when you use a form. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

Email

If you write to me, I receive your email address and whatever you choose to include, and I use it only to reply. Email for this domain is handled by Migadu (Migadu-Mail GmbH, Switzerland). I don't sell or share your messages.

Newsletter

The newsletter is run on Substack. When you subscribe, you do so on Substack's site, and Substack processes your email address under its own privacy policy. You can unsubscribe at any time from any newsletter email.

Links to other sites

This site links to other websites and social networks. Their own privacy policies apply once you follow those links.

Your choices

You can ask what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it, by writing to hello@shanetbutcher.com. If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom or a US state with a privacy law, you have these rights by law, and you may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
